"Flyssa Sword"
The flyssa is the sword of the Kabyle people from North Algeria. Our item is of typical form but with its 108cm larger than average examples. The decorated spine is 11mm thick at the ricasso. The blade is bilaterally decorated with brass inlay geometric patterns. The animal-head shaped hilt is largely made of wood plated with brass decorated panels. The scabbard is composed of two large wooden panels helt together by three brass loops. The outer panel features carved motifs and two suspension holes. Many flyssa swords and daggers on the market are in average or bad condition. Our example is in very good condition. The scabbard has some damage to the chape.
