Genre painter, wildlife, landscapes, watercolourist.
Pupil of Daubigny, Boulanger and Guillemet. He began at the Salon of 1780 and for a few years exhibited there mainly watercolors. He devoted himself to oil painting and continued to exhibit regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français of which he is a member.
He is an animal painter whose works sometimes recall the best canvases of Troyon.
