Superb and large oil painting from the beginning of the 19th century representing men in a carriage by Charles de Luna (1812-1866), French painter from the beginning of the 19th century, born in 1812 in Châlon sur Saone Specialized in military subjects, Orientalism and genre scenes , he was a pupil of Léon Cogniet (1794-1880) and exhibited at the Paris Salon between 1833 and 1866. His paintings often represent equestrian scenes and military subjects. He also produced hunting scenes of the French aristocracy. This painting depicts 2 gentlemen sitting on their carriage pulled by 2 horses while a small dog runs alongside. The whole set against a backdrop of hilly and wooded landscapes. Superb details of the horses, which are very realistic, the colors have remained bright and luminous, the whole in perfect condition is signed and dated lower left, rear frame.
