"Antoine-louis Barye (1796 - 1875) "deer Rubbing Antlers", Bronze Sculpture"
The antique bronze animal figure of a der rubbing antlers was executed in the 19th century by Alfred Barye "Le Fils" or Alf Barye (1839 - Paris - 1882). He was a French sculptor from the Belle Époque, a pupil of his father, the artist Antoine-Louis Barye. In collaboration with Émile-Coriolan Guillemin, Barye created the illustration for "The Arab warrior knight on horseback". Barye's work included animal bronzes as well as oriental subjects. At the request of his father, he signs his work as "son" or "Alf.Barye" to differentiate his work from that of his father.
