"Small Cauchois Buffet Two Glazed Body In Solid Pitchpin - Mid Nineteenth"
Old sideboard from the Pays de Caux, Norman made with two superimposed bodies in carved Pitchpin. The lower body is made up of a false frame and two fretwork doors, each with a scroll-shaped top. The frame is knockout. The cut-out and turbulent low crosspiece accompanies rounded feet ending in a sober snail. The upper body is set back slightly. It has two glass doors with the same shapes as those of the lower part, accentuating this impression of lightness. The lower crosspiece of the doors accommodates a knockout medallion. These high and low bodies are respectively lined with two and one shelves. The high crosspiece of this Norman furniture, in a policeman's hat, marries a beautiful hollowed and airy cornice decorated with scrolls and molded around its perimeter. The hinges, hinges and inlets are made of brass and of small dimensions. This beautiful regional quality achievement benefits from a light aesthetic combining old and modern. It is noticeable by the bright and shiny color of its pitchpin. ********************** Period: Mid 19th century Excellent condition after restoration in our workshop.
