"Bronze "
Small bronze sculpture with brown patina representing a young boy, cigarette in mouth and lighter in hand. Dressed in a beanie over his soft hair, Bavarian shorts and clogs, the chubby child stands upright, one hand in his pocket and seems focused on lighting his cigarette. Julius Schmidt (1835 – 1920) was a prolific German sculptor from the second half of the 19th century. These works are diverse and very realistic. This bronze "the little smoker" underlines the mischievous side of childhood. ******** Period: 2nd half of the 19th century Excellent condition.
