Object description :

"Gashghaï Rug, Hand-knotted Wool On Wool, 115 X 152 Cm, Iran, Early 20th Century, In Very Good Condition"
Gashghaï carpet decorated with juxtaposed medallions, beautiful old model from the beginning of the 20th century, measuring, 115 cm wide by 152 cm long, in high quality wool on wool, from Iran in good condition with slight wear.
The light camel and brown colors of the field give a bright contrast to the midnight blue background.
The design of a beautiful complexity like a decoration of tanned skin on which are placed two large medallions reveals many tribal and stylized plant motifs.
The border is made up of oak leaves alternating with stylized flowers and embellishes the entire perimeter with great elegance.
The mixed hair fringes are in good condition, they often include goat, sheep, camel and horsehair wool.
These mixtures are found in most ethnic rugs from Iran, Central Asia and the Caucasus.
The muted, earth colors contrast with the light, indigot, white, pink, orange placed on the darker field, causing a bright contrast.
These rugs are essentially dyed with natural, mineral and vegetable products.
The drawing of a beautiful complexity, reveals many tribal motifs and other stylized plants that we always meet on these carpets.
These carpets are knotted in the region of Shiraz located near the ancient Persepolis which gave its name to Persia, nowadays, Iran.
Shiraz is located in the province of Fars, where the Gashghaï tribes reside and produce carpets under the two names, Shiraz or Ghashghaï. Dimensions: width: 115cm (60") x length: 152cm (45")
This rug has been professionally and environmentally cleaned.
