"Sauteuse Commode From Languedoc 18th Century"
Exceptional dresser with two drawers, also called "SAUTEUSE", in walnut wood. Chest of drawers in the shape of a crossbow and curved in its center, richly carved on the three sides. Its crosspiece is perforated on the front with foliage decoration, the four uprights are also carved ending in foliage surmounted by shells, very unusual. The sides have movements, and the low crosspieces are also sculpted with multiple scrolls, all resting on four very elegant winding feet. It is topped with an original "GRIS SAINT-ANNE" marble. Original bronze pull handles and keyholes. Note, the marble has been glued but very little visible. Exceptional work of sculpture, Very rare chest of drawers model!. Period early 18th century, around 1730/1740 Languedoc region or perhaps L'herault (Pézénas). The chest of drawers has a beautiful shade, and this uniform ... The photos are of poor quality and the chest of drawers may appear darker in places.
