"Sandstone Vase By Jean Austruy 60s"
Pitcher vase signed Austruy in sandstone with handle, decoration of incised horizontal lines enamelled in black on a brick red background and black enamel bubbles. Reminder of this enamel inside the pitcher. The top of the pitcher is enamelled in white. 1960s.
Good condition (a chip under the foot not very visible)
Height 22cm, diameter at the neck 12cm

Jean Austruy (1910 -1990)
 Graduated from the School of Decorative Arts and Fine arts of Paris, Jean Austruy settled in Saint-Marcellin in Isère, and taught drawing for nine years in this city as well as at the School of Fine Arts and Industrial Arts in Grenoble. ceramics first in his garage, then in a workshop he had built in 1947 in order to increase his production, the demand being high after the war.His wife Jacqueline, also a graduate of Fine Arts, helped him in their production.
