ORDOS culture (1st millennium BC)
The Ordos culture is an ancient culture located in the great loop of the Yellow River, on the Ordos plateau, in Inner Mongolia, China. It extends from the sixth to the second century BC. AD. The ORDOS culture seems to be the easternmost of the known manifestations of Scythian culture. The Scythians were a large group of nomadic, predominantly European-speaking Iranian-speaking cavalry peoples who occupied much of central Eurasia in antiquity. The animal art that characterizes the culture of Ordos comes from the Scythian animal art that was then widespread in the West throughout the Eurasian steppe from southern Siberia to Europe.
