"Japan - Isho Dansu - Kiri - Late Edo"
Very pretty Isho Dansu (kimono cabinet) in lacquered Kiri (Paulownia) wood. It is composed of two transportable and stackable boxes. The lower chest has two drawers of different sizes as well as a small door behind which you can discover two small drawers. The upper chest is composed of two large drawers. The hardware consists of large iron handles as well as a large hinge at the level of the door. On the sides of the chests, mobile handles are fixed allowing the transport as well as the blocking of the two parts as well as the brackets of reinforcements on each end. Each drawer as well as the door receive an iron disc containing the entrance to the lock. The signature of the craftsman on each drawer demonstrates the quality of execution of the whole.
