Large solid silver hand candle holder, bearing a Mallorca hallmark (Balearic Islands, South Spain) from 1709? -the punch is indeed hidden under the binet of the candlestick and it's necessary to unscrew the axis of it to see it appear.
The candle holder is absolutely complete with its square silver nut too, like the axis, and more with its chain ending with 2 ends used to remove the wax remaining in the binet bottom. This part fits perfectly inside the end of the handle of the candle holder (see photos) so as not to be broken or deformed.
Striche mark under the candel so a deep zig zag scratch used to sample material to test the authenticity and purity of silver. This method was specially used to early XVIIIth cty to take raw material sample in the form of a chip.
