Biography: Hess Marcel was born in 1878 in Brussel. He was a Belgian painter and drawer of portraits, nudes and flowers.
He studied at the Academies of Brussels with master teacher Jean-François Portaels (1818-1895) and Düsseldorf, Germany. He traveled to Morocco.
Hees Marcel is notable for his fine and vibrant sensitivity and his rich and distinguished colouring.
He used mixed media and elevated his drawings with coloured pencil. He had limited number of exhibitions and retrospective in Brussels “La Petite Galerie”.
He died in 1948 in Grimbergen. Today, his works can be found in private and public collections, including in Museums in Ixelles and Sint-Joost-ten-Node.
