Following the decrease in orders from the court and the nobility, L.-R. increasingly focused on the wealthy bourgeoisie and foreign orders. Already during his lifetime, L.-R. was considered an outstanding bronzier, so much so that an 1819 report for the "Industrial Museum" gave him a "great reputation". L.-R. often collaborated with the watchmaker Mesnil, who also worked for the predecessors of L.-R. and other famous bronzers like Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1848).
