"Vanity Mirror In Parisian Varnish, Louis XV Period"
Vanity mirror in Parisian varnish from the Louis XV period, rectangular in shape, the top scalloped. The frame entirely lacquered with floral and sinister motifs. Two young Chinese are represented on the sides and are most certainly inspired by the work of the painter Jean-Baptiste Pillement (1728-1808) and more precisely by one of the "Allegories of the twelve months of the year".
-This toilet mirror is a very beautiful testimony to these interior scenes often represented by painters like Chardin (1699-1769) or Guillaume Voiriot (1713-1799).
-Frame and background in fruit wood (most certainly pear tree), modern mirror, preparation, light gray lacquer, decoration in varnished-polished oil paint.
-Paris, around 1770.
-Good state of conservation, the back foot changed.
