Paul Gomien born in Villers-lès-Nancy (54) in 1799 and died in Paris in 1846, is a French portrait painter, specialist in miniatures, belonging to the School of Nancy (portrait). Pupil of André Larue dit Mansion (1785-v. 1834), better known as Mansion, himself a pupil of Jean-Baptiste Isabey (1767-1855). Influenced by the latter, Paul Gomien exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1822 to 1846, the year of his death, and enjoyed great success as a portrait painter, in Lorraine, then in Paris under Louis-Philippe, just like his brother Charles Gomien. He obtained Medals in 1833 and 1846 with miniature portraits.
