"Josef Kraenzle (1874 -1937) Original Christmas Postcard Design"
The original watercolor (grisaille) as a design for the Christmas postcard from Vienna, dated 1901, was executed by the Austrian artist Josef Kraenzle (1874 - 1937). Kränzle was a famous illustrator in Vienna at the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century, working for different newspapers, magazines and making designs for postcards. Inscription: signed J.Kraenzle, lower left and inscribed in German "Vienna".
Technique: matte grisaille (monochrome watercolor) on cardboard.
Dimensions: image W 7 1/2" x H 11 3/4" (19 x 30 cm).
