"Sainte Famille et un ange"
Oil on canvas representing the Holy Family with Saint Anne and an angel. Three heads of cherubs form the second plan, a woman's face painted in grisaille wearing a row of pearls at the back. The Holy Family is the name given to the family formed by Jesus of Nazareth and his parents, Mary and Joseph. "The shepherds came in haste, and they found Mary and Joseph with the newborn lying in a manger" (Luke, 2). It symbolizes family virtues for Christians. Recurring theme in painting, although the cult attached to it dates only from 1665, she can be represented in the company of Saint Elisabeth or Saint Anne.
