"Nantes Chest Of Drawers In Solid Amaranth Wood, Louis XV Period - 1770"
Exceptional Chest of Drawers from the Nantes Region, in solid Amaranth, known as Amourette. It is from the heart of this tree in French Guiana that the dense, hard wood was extracted which gives the front of this piece of furniture this remarkable 'Snakeskin' effect. Also note the pronounced curve of the front, which gives a general grace to this chest of drawers. The frameworks of the fronts of the 3 large drawers that compose it are made up of pieces of wood in one piece, edged in their lengths, which for the time required an astonishing technicality. Each of these drawers has 2 ornate pull handles decorated with scrolls and flowers, as well as an equally elaborate keyhole. These bronzes are all original, the keys, supplied with the furniture, are current. The locks are in working order. A 'Brèche de Lourdes' marble literally embellishes this chest of drawers, especially by its singularity and its colors, but also by its molded periphery in 'Bec de Corbin'. The front of this marble is cut in rounded, in order to marry the lines of the front of the piece of furniture, while the aspect of its back edge testifies to its authenticity. The lower crosspiece of this elegant chest of drawers is scalloped in the central part, decoration also reproduced on the sides but more soberly. The set rests on 4 arched feet. The back of the cabinet, as well as the interiors, sides and bottoms of the drawers are in Oak. ******** Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop. Wax finish only.
