"Cashmere Coat Espoliné Bayadère - Ottoman Empire Circa 1890-1900"
Late 19th century Ottoman Empire Beautiful Belle Epoque European cut coat in espoline bayadere cashmere dating from the Belle Epoque. I collected it from a collector in Istanbul about ten years ago. For the collection but portable because in excellent condition. Fitted cut with shawl collar and elbow sleeves with small leg and adorned with chiselled metal buttons. Bottom in cashmere striped from Ottoman or Persian production called Khatraz, with weft crocheted in tapestry or espoline stitch. This type of striped decoration is present in the iconography of the second half of the 19th century, through shawls commonly called Bayadère in Provence. Interesting testimony to fashion in Constantinople around 1900, largely inspired by European trends. In new condition of textile antiquity, probably not or little worn. Black silk taffeta lining. No moth holes and fresh colors. Excellent state of color and conservation. Dimensions: Equivalent size 38 France. Height 104 cm Shoulders 37 cm Collar 7 cm Sleeves 56 cm Chest 89 cm Waist 82 cm Hips 110 cm.
