"Pair Of Sugar Casters , Sterling Silver, Altenloh, Brussels, 1900-1920"
Lovely pair of Louis XIV style casters in 900% solid silver made by the famous jewellers and goldsmith Altenloh in Brussels. Suppliers to the crown as well as to all the great families of the kingdom, the Altenloh house had a shop on the Place Royale in the center of the Belgian capital. Great admirers of the French style, their eclectic goldsmiths are often exact replicas of eighteenth-century French objects. And such is the case for our two large sugar casters which are inspired by the ones of the Régence period.
