Object description :

"Original Double Sided Watercolor Drawing By Leonor Fini (1908-1996) Ballerina"
On the face very charming drawing watercolors in the orange tone of a ballerina with a cat face.
This characteristic drawing of the artist is made in a few strokes of pencil while lightness.
It’s signed at the bottom right.

Dimensions: 31 x 22 cm
Dimensions with frame: 49 x 40 cm

On the back is another very charming drawing of a ballerina with a cat mask.

Dimensions: 18 x 20 cm

These two drawings could have been made for the play “Les demoiselles de la nuit”, choreographed by Roland Petit in 1949.
Leonor Fini was then in charge of designing the sets and costumes for Jean Anouilh’s famous play.
Leonor Fini devotes a real adoration to cats, and it is not without lyricism that she confides in their permanent presence in her life: “like those baroque statues that represent the Egyptian river invaded by putti, its confluences, I have the privilege, as soon as I lie down, of becoming the Cat’s Nile.” She produced numerous paintings, drawings, watercolours and prints in tribute to cats, even publishing in 1977 a book entirely devoted to her passion for felidae, Miroir des chats, where she confirmed: I paint the faces of cats as well as humans, without bothering them by making them pose. And they are my favorite form».

These two drawings are beautifully framed, with a “Leonor Fini” cartridge.
They are very easily interchangeable.

Photos are taken in natural light.
Neat packaging.
Shipping costs borne by the buyer.
I remain at your disposal for any further information and photos.
