"Rare Wardrobe From Sumene Epoque 17th Century"
Rare and Magnificent Wardrobe of Sumène, a very small village located on the borders of the Gard and the Lozère, around 1500 inhabitants, (Meuble Protestant). Spectacular pediment with "Indian Crowned with Pearls" head decoration, fleur-de-lys decoration on both sides, finely carved drapes and multiple falls and winding of foliage on the entire pediment. It opens with two doors with six panels carved with floral motifs, arabesques, foliage and geometric decoration. The uprights as well as the frame are straight and carved with bolt decoration, surmounted by serrated butts in the lower part and carved with foliage in the upper part. The upper crosspiece is carved with a frieze with geometric decoration and multiple scrolls and flowers. The sides are made up of six unequal panels with geometric decoration, surmounted by a horizontal carved crosspiece decorated with bolts. The whole resting on a straight crosspiece surmounted by a thin original cornice. Walnut wood furniture "entirely in its original state", Key and lock also. All small usual restorations. Languedoc furniture, mid-17th century period around (1650). These cabinets are extremely rare, produced in a very short time. Ordered at the time by very wealthy notable families. Dimensions....
