A Japanese boxwood netsuke depicting a Shishi in a defense posture with jaws wide open and carved with an excellent finish and craftsmanship in the smallest details, accompanied by a blond color and an extraordinary patina and luster.Kara-shishi 唐獅子 (Chinese lion) resembling a lion. It is typically placed to the left of the shrine or temple door.
