"Bronze Brush Rest. China Qing."
Bronze brush rest. The fisherman in cast bronze. It seems unthinkable that a founder could have cast the trap and the net in bronze from lost waxes. It is more likely that the trap is made up of several bronze rods welded together. It is true that a wax work would look the same but casting such an object seems impossible to me. For the net, it seems that it was cast in one piece and welded to the rest, but it is not certain, it could also have been braided. It is an extremely rare or even unique object. Spaces are provided to put several brushes and the hollow basket can receive an incense stick. Good condition, very beautiful old patina. Chinese work from the Qing period. 18th century or before. 14cm x 9cm
