"Small Secretary "
Small Mahogany Veneer Secretaire with Dark Gray Marble top. It has a high drawer, underlined by a double low molding and offering a storage depth of 7.5 cm. Below, a flap reveals a Tabernacle with oak fittings. The latter consists of a niche embellished on the front by a panel cut into two Ogives and supported in the middle by a dummy pillar. This space also offers three drawers, whose fronts are lined with small chiseled brass pull knobs giving the illusion that there are four of them. The work area is covered with leather in shades of Green, embellished with a central Vignette, Fleurons d'angles and a Golden frieze on the edge. In the lower part, this Secretary has two doors, with Walnut closure, thus avoiding any deformation. They house four other drawers, arranged in two rows, made of Light Oak and assembled in Dovetails. Each of these three main openings are locked and the cabinet is supplied with a key adapted to its three locks. The front uprights are in sheathed Pilasters. They are topped with Busts of women and finished with Claw feet, in wood, with Brown / Green patina. The back feet are straight. We will appreciate the reasonable dimensions of this Secretary, as well as its great Sobriety, due in particular to its Mahogany of Wire, wood, by definition, very modestly veined. ******** Period: Late 19th century Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop.
