"Small Rosewood Inlaid Secretary, Louis XIV Style, Napoleon III Period - Nineteenth"
Small Louis XIV style secretary, in marquetry of various woods on a background of rosewood veneer. Its top is a Pyrenean Marble with Salmon dominant, cut in Bec de Corbin on its periphery. Its front angles are rounded, just like the uprights inlaid with friezes that they overhang. This secretary opens in a belt by a flap revealing a niche with a high fretted crosspiece, as well as three small drawers. The latter are embellished on the fronts with Lemon nets forming frames, inlays that can be found on the sides of this piece of furniture. The work area is covered with modern Red leather, embellished with a central Vignette, Fleurons d'angles and, on the edges, Golden friezes and on a hard background. In addition, this piece of furniture has four large drawers of identical size, one above the writing table, the other three below. The five openings of this pretty Secretary are equipped with a cut-out Bronze keyhole and its respective current key. They display on the facades delicate Marquetry in various colors, representing essentially the Decorations of flowers, leaves and Scrolls, made with finesse. We will also appreciate on this Secretary the Falls in ornate Bronze which adorn the ends of the uprights, as well as the plinth on which it rests. This is cut to form two rounded feet at the front, two narrower feet at the back. The interior and the back of the drawers are in Oak. ******** Period: 19th century Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop. Varnished finish on a hard bottom.
