"Small Mahogany Desk From Cuba, Napoleon III Period - Mid-19th Century"
Small desk in solid and veneered Cuban mahogany, opening in the upper part with two drawers with pull buttons and molded contours. Halfway up, a Doucine flap forming a writing desk reveals an interior in Mottled Maple. Two small drawers overlook a work area covered with leather with Fleurons d'angles and three friezes on the edge, one golden, the other two, finer, on a hard background. The leather was chosen in black color during its restoration, thus harmonizing this space, some elements of which have the same color. Note that the unlocking of the two top drawers can only be done by opening the central flap. As a belt, this desk offers a large drawer, shallower than it appears, with a compartmentalized interior. In the lower part, it features a molded strip with rounded cutouts, an ornament found on the sides of the cabinet. This drawer, like the flap described above, is locked with locks and their original keys. The set rests on four generously curved legs, embellished on the domed parts with carved decorations. The interior of the drawers is in Oak, the back of the cabinet in Mahogany. ******** Period: Mid-19th century Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop. Finish only waxed after stripping.
