"Watercolor Drawing By The Artist Edmond Alet, Art Nouveau Period Circa 1900"
Rare watercolor plate from an important set of drawings and studies in the Art Nouveau style by the artist Edmond Alet. With his brother Raymond, they settled in Toulouse at the end of the 19th century and took courses given by Jean Rivière at the École des Beaux Arts. They are part of a neo Regionalist but modern current inspired by European artistic currents which put at the heart of their thought the idea of beauty in the useful. In 1898 they founded the furniture store La Ruche. Maurice designs the furniture and Edmond creates designs that adorn the trumeaux or that are intended to become marquetry. Our drawing is part of a rare collection from Archives of the time. Close to the collections of the Museum of Old Toulouse.
