Genre dog painting by famous German animal artist Adolf (Karl Friedrich Adolf) Nickol (1824 Schöppenstedt - 1905 Braunschweig). He was a pupil of Brandes, lived in 1853-1854 in Rome. The works are in the municipal museums of Braunschweig and Königsberg (Kaliningrad).

Inscription: signed lower left, old exhibition label reversed with number.
