"Spearhead Decorated With Christian Victory Over Islam. Central Europe? 17° Century Or Before?"
Steel spearhead, mounted on gilded bronze incised on one side with a large animal, certainly a bear, overthrowing a mosque in flames (the overturned building is surmounted by a crescent). The other side is incised with a weapons bundle. In the lower part are represented 3 heads crowned with laurels or helmeted, probably of kings. This is the representation of a battle won by Europeans over a Muslim nation, probably that of the Ottomans. The 3 heads must represent the kings of the allied nations Traces of hot foil. Length 25cm. Very worn, rusty and damaged. A rare historical document. Probably Central European work from the 16th century.
