Madonna and Child, French school late 17th early 18th century. Oil on oval softwood panel representing the Virgin, the Child and Saint John the Baptist. Mary is represented according to classical iconography holding Jesus in her arms, Saint John the Baptist kneeling seeking their gaze. An open window behind the figures gives depth to the whole composition. Softness and serenity emerges from this painting. In its old condition with some wear. Beautiful period frame in gilded wood and carved in its old patina, a 5 millimeter thick reinforcement has been added around the back of the frame. Frame dimensions: 54cm x 46cm Table dimensions: 40cm x 32cm
