Important old carpet from Macchad or Mechhed, Persia (Iran) from the beginning of the 20th century.
We can place it around 1910/1930 in hand-knotted kork wool, for about 360,000 knots per m2, in very good used condition.
This very beautiful rug comes from the province of Mashhad.
Macchad is the second largest city in Iran located in the northeast and nicknamed "the city of a thousand faces."
This piece of great delicacy has a very beautiful decoration of a large rosette in a floral medallion with sixteen polylobes.
Two large pendants in the shape of a halberd complete the rosette in the length of the carpet.
On all the field appear fine wavy volutes of palms and flowers, many birds are in the arabesques.
We find four medallions decorated with birds in the corners.
The colors remain very fresh with a dominant crushed raspberry accompanied by many blue for the field and the border decorated with flowers.
This rug has been professionally and environmentally cleaned.
