Gilt chiseled bronze.
Here is a very beautiful pair of candlesticks from the Louis XVI period. It is composed of a base with moldings, there are two smooth glazes, one of which is decorated with rose branches and the other vertical.
They enclose a frieze of ladder guilloche lines. The top of the plinth is decorated with a frieze of swirling strigils. A detail of refinement is noticed at second glance, the strigiles are enhanced on foliage and berries.
The shaft is decorated with swirling grooves and covered with garlands of roses. The thin-walled binet is also decorated with grooves emerging from acanthus leaves.
Two molded and smooth sleeves carrying the barrel and the binets balance these elegant luminaires by refining them. These candlesticks are representative of the beautiful lighting under Louis XVI.
