"Ramsden Electric Machine, Pixii Father & Son, Rue De Grenelle Paris"
Rare Ramsden electric machine. It bears a plaque on which is engraved: “Pixii Father & Son rue de Grenelle Saint Germain 18. Paris”. This type of electrostatic machine, invented in 1776 by the Englishman Jesse Ramsden, is capable of producing an electric discharge by rubbing a moving glass plate. The mechanical power generated by the rotation of the plate is thus converted into electrical power. The electricity produced is under high voltage but very low intensity. The model we present is very large; its constituent elements rest on a specially manufactured table. Dimensions of the table: Length = 1.50 m, Width = 70 cm. Total height of the device: 1.70 m. very good general condition and above all of exceptional size. Around 1830.
