Object description :

"Pair Of Important And Rare Vases In Paris 1835"

Description:
Painted and gilded porcelain.
Each vase consists of a pedestal with radiating leaves on a smooth, square base. The body has a wine-colored background and carries two antique-style ram-head grips and windings. Elegant and complex gold highlights adorn the wine-colored background, on the obverse they release a cartouche in which are painted a woman and a man in Renaissance attire. The reverse is respectively decorated with the attributes of music and war, these motifs are in gold relief and this unusual work denotes a fine quality of execution.
The particularity of these vases is their wide and high openwork neck.
The gilded and painted decorations are shiny and matte.
Note under the base FA&C (?) 1835 . These vases are representative of their time, we will notice neo-classical reminiscences inherited from the still very close Empire (palmettes, sober proportions), and typical portraits of the Restoration inspired by an old moment of the old regime. (Troubadour style).
