19th Century French School: "mozart"
French school of the 19th century : "Mozart" miniature on rectangular ivory 6 x 4.5 cm, mounted in a blackened wooden miniature frame 14 X 11.5 cm with a view surrounded by a brass marie-louise with an oval view 6 X 5cm. Our miniature, very difficult to photograph because of the reflections on the glass, shows us a handsome man in profile, with hair tied by a ribbon at the back, a garnet velvet coat and a foaming white tie edged in blue. The attribution of the model to Mozart who appears behind is plausible if I judge by comparison with other portraits of the time.
