Cubic-shaped carriage foot warmers from brass with domed and openwork top, engraved floral decoration and carrying loop, standing on 4 ball feet.
The 4 sides are identical, hammered of a large oval cabochon in fillet and pearl borders, and pierced with a small grid, where, if you look closely, you can make out a frieze of modest hearts.
One side opened to put the iron bucket containing embers, whose feet lodged in the housings visible on underside, and which has disappeared.
Size 18cm x 18cm x 18cm.
Used at period (circa1730) in carriages, churches with too long services....
