Painter from Nancy, Jules Schneider had a short life. Despite everything, we owe him some great compositions for the churches of Nancy: "The Assumption of Mary" and "The Annunciation" in the Basilica of Notre Dame de Lourdes in Nancy and also the paintings behind Saint Jean-Marie Vianney or Saint Jeanne d'Arc.
This portrait is funny because of the "old-fashioned" Greek costume with the toga, the sandals but also the chair.
