Large red lacquered wooden box, decorated in light relief with 2 birds, plants, scrolls and greek frets. Technically, the wooden base is covered with a layer of painted and gilded relief molding. The set shows an Asian influence. The greek frets, the color and the design of lacquer Chinese inspiration but the metallic rings and the form are of Japanese style. However, the style of the decor and the materials used are neither Chinese nor Japanese. Probably European work from the 18th century or before?Worn and cracked but solid and good overall condition. No restauration. 51.5 x 16.5 x 14cm
