Léon Auguste MELLÉ (1816-1889) "Landscape with a Shepherdess"; Oil on canvas signed and dated 1842 lower right, Dimensions 54 x 91 cm, the frame 75 x 99 cm. Some gaps in the frame as well as old restorations in the painting. Léon-Auguste MELLÉ was born on April 15, 1816 in Paris and was a pupil of Jules COIGNET (1798-1860) and Charles-Caius RENOUX (1795-1846). He appeared very regularly at the Paris Salon between 1839 and 1879 through views taken in Switzerland, Dauphiné, Picardy and around Paris. The artist died in 1889 at the age of 73.
