DEMEURE Youri (1927-2003) Mixed technique, oil and sand on paper Dimensions of the work: 59 x 42 cm Dimensions with frame: 70.5 x 53.5 cm DEMEURE Youri, painter, pupil of R. Guiette and at the Camber (O. Jespers). Member of the Young Belgian Painting (1946). Participates in four of his exhibitions. Also takes part in the Young Antwerp Painting exhibition (1947). Has his first personal exhibition in Brussels (Lou Cosyn gallery) in 1947. Takes scenography courses at La Cambre (1946-49, H. Closson). Prix Jeune Peinture Belge in 1950. Poetry of banal subjects. But, absorbed by other professional tasks, abandons painting for almost twenty years. Reappeared on the picture rails in the mid-1970s, with sometimes disturbing compositions.
