Laure Hayman was born in Valparaiso in Chile in 1851. She descends from the painter Francis Hayman who was the master of Thomas Gainsborough She settled in Paris and she had a very rich life, being a demi-mondaine (she knows the Duke intimately d'Orléans, the King of Greece as well as the father of Marcel Proust, the Duc d'Estrees, Bischoffheim...)
