Beautiful and large oil on panel by Georges Lévêque. This very decorative work is signed lower left Biography: in Béthune in 1919, he began to paint in 1942 guided by his drawing teacher Mr Beaumont. He learned the architecture of clothing in Paris to become a model maker and began to meet many painters. He became friends, within the Grande Chaumière studio, with André Lhote, Ossip Zadkine and Edouard Pignon who encouraged him to exhibit in Béthune and Le Touquet. Very attached to his region, he regularly exhibits there in renowned galleries such as the Galerie Septentrion in Bondues or the Galerie Mischkind in Lille. He frequents the famous artists of the North on the picture rails: Lhotellier, Hémery, Hennebelle, Dodeigne or Van Hecke. Definitively back in 1968 at La Couture, he will not stop creating to leave us with an abundant and diversified work. Georges Lévêque, inspired by the abstract avant-gardes, uses a post-cubist geometric vocabulary sometimes tinged with humor.
