"Ramu River Mask In Papua"
This mask has a very nice crusty patina with multiple layers of pigments. A bird sculpture is most certainly missing on the front of the mask. Coming from the mouth of the Ramu River, it was hung on a wicker frame carried on the shoulders of a man during major initiation ceremonies. It is presented on a metal base 73 cm high. Papua New Guinea Early 20th century
