Single action revolver.
Round barrel, rifled, marked on the top: "Смита и Вессона оружейная фабрика T Спрингфильдъ Америка".
Six-chambered cylinder, hollowed out.
Frame hinged downwards with collective extractor at toggle, punched with two arrows.
Carcass marked: "1874", finger rest.
All parts with the same number: "7719" and control marks: "A".
Two wooden stock plates, numbered, ring of bélière.
The model number 3 was at first not accepted by the American army, Smith & Wesson thus took the decision to propose this revolver to the Russian army in full reorganization.
By convincing General Gorloff, military attaché to the United States, on May 1st 1871 a contract was signed for an order of 20,000 pieces.
The particularity of this model is the use of a heavier bullet, a higher powder charge, the Cyrillic markings and the ring of strap to the handle.
