"Bronze Of Woman On Pedestal, Jean De Bologne After Clodion - Nineteenth"
Bronze subject with Brown Patina, representing a Woman, leaning forward, with a slender and naked body. Only a ribbon, entwined around his left arm raised to the sky on one side, and held by his right hand on the other, conceals his intimacy. This character with hair pulled up in a bun is supported on one foot, itself placed on the mouth of a baby blower. The second leg is bent and lifted back, accentuating this impression of imbalance in the posture of this woman. The whole rests on a base composed of a cylinder with the upper and lower ends molded into stairs. The central part of this base is decorated with a string of Putti Musicians, accompanied by their instruments: trumpets, tambourine, mandolin... The Lorrain artist Claude Michel engraved his work with his pseudonym, Clodion (1738-1814), signature associated with that of the person who inspired it, the Flemish sculptor Jean de Bologne (1529-1608). ******** Period: 19th century Perfect condition.
