Sarouk Ferahan or ancient Farahan from Persia, now Iran.This piece measures 140 cm x 190 cm, is in very good collectible condition and dates from the 19th century, during the Kadjar dynasty.
This carpet has beautiful colors, mainly a deep midnight blue field typical of the Ferahan and yellow, orange-red, ivory and pale blue applied to large foliage, flowers, arabesques and palms present on a polylobed medallion and on sublime borders.
The medallion and its two pendants play with the entire field of a very complex design.
The shades are fresh and the thick, soft velvet is in superb condition.
The edges are impeccable as well as the short fringes.
The carpet is profusely flowered and has well-designed borders, contrasting in shades of the most beautiful effect.
Kork wool is the softest and silkiest wool taken from the first shearing of the lambs, mainly under the neckline and the belly, it is treated there like silk, on a short and very tight pile.
This carpet is a beautiful collector's item, decorative and comfortable, the decor is abundant and beautifully designed, and the kork wool is of high quality. The Sarough carpet, or Sarouk, the Ecbatana of Antiquity, is knotted in a few villages near Sarouk in the agricultural region of Arak.
