Object description :

"A Dainty Bit - A Woman With Lobster On A Plate And Ducks By Otto Meyer, C.1873 "
We found this long-lost painting by German artist Otto Meyer from a Swedish private collection.
It was featured in the 1873 magazine The Aldine and entitled A Dainty Bit.
At first glance, it looks like a 17th-century painting, but when we look closer we can see a more 19th century
style of painting, the brush strokes are visible and Meyer manages to capture this Still-life moment quite well.
What we see is a woman with lobster and ducks, a much more common Still-life motif in the 17th century, but artists in more modern times were so inspired by this genre that they made their own interpretation.
This artist rarely comes out on the market so this is a unique opportunity to buy a both beautiful and important piece of art history.

plate dimensions 11.41 x 9.64 inches (29 x 24.5 cm)
dimensions with frame 18.50 x 16.92 inches (47 x 43 cm)
