The author Charles-Gabriel-Frédéric Christin was born in Saint Claude in the Jura, he died in 1799 in the fire that ravaged his birthplace. He was elected mayor of Saint-Claude. He engages in the defense of the cause of the mainmortables of the Jura. Voltaire who was Christin's friend comes to his aid and publishes this text in the original edition. This book is interesting for two reasons, 1 we have an original edition of Voltaire, 2 the part written by Christin takes up many texts, charters, diplomas, sales contracts from the Middle Ages and gives the text in Latin in order to give the proofs theses he supports.
